Servanthood
The final step on our journey of discipleship is servanthood in the church, through the church, and in the world.
Every quarter, the members and friends of our congregation sign up to serve at the 9:30 AM service as assisting ministers, readers, Communion ministers, or ushers.
Many of us serve in the choir, the band, and other music groups on Sunday mornings.
Some of our members and friends sign up to lead Godly Play for the children or to serve as godparents for the youth during the Gathering at 10:30 AM. Others sign up to serve coffee and refreshments at the Gathering for adults.
About once a month we gather in the fellowship hall following the 9:30 AM service to pack rice and beans for the West Valley Community Food Pantry.
Our pastoral assistants make monthly visits to those who are not able to make it to worship and formation on Sunday mornings.
Once a month we host a drive-thru, drop-off food drive in our parking lot for the West Valley Community Food Pantry.
Each spring we participate in a Habitat for Humanity build as a member congregation of the West Valley Lutheran Coalition for Habitat.
