Worship Servants

Suspended-Meeting dates TBA

Acolytes:  Children in Grades 3+, can serve the church and be part of worship in this wonderful role. Acolyte means “companion” or “one who helps”.  You will be serving as a companion or helper to our Pastor—performing a number of important functions before, during, and after worship.  If you sign up, you will be an acolyte once every 4-8 weeks at a Sunday worship service.

Altar Guild:  Prepares the communon elements (wine/juice and bread/wafers) and set the altar prior to each worship service and clean up afterwards.

Café’ Peace:  This team serves coffee and a smile on the patio between services on Sunday mornings.   Hosts set up and serve coffee, juice, water, and cookies.  Occasionally, special events are celebrated with cake or ice cream.  The number of participating hosts necessitates serving only once every 1-2 months.

Communion Assistants:  The service of communion is the “high point” of our worship.  Communion is a sacrament in our church; a visable sign of God’s grace for those who willingly receive.  Assistants commune the congregation saying “the Body of Christ” when distributing the bread and “the Blood of Christ when offering the cup.

Lay Readers read the first scripture reading during worship services, about every 8-12 weeks.  The reading, or lesson, is sent by email on Thursday prior to the weekend you read.  Additionally, a hard copy is always printed and placed at the lectern for your use.

Usher/Greeter can serve on the Sunday and service time of their choosing—usually a once-a-month commitment.  Duties include arriving 30 minutes before the worship service to meet and greet, as well as handout announcements, to people arriving for worship, to collect the offering, and direct people for communion.
