Pastor's Al's Weekly Message

Follow the Leader

Grace and Peace be with All!

Lent is a time when we are asked to make a journey of faith.  In Jesus' day there was a saying, 'May you wear the dust of your rabbi.'   The idea is that you followed so closely in the footsteps of your teacher that you were covered in the dust kicked up by his sandals.  What does it mean for us today to follow in the footsteps of the rabbi Jesus?

This Sunday at 11 am is our congregational meeting out in the courtyard.  You must be present to cast a vote, but we will display on Facebook (Heart of Peace.)

Sunday at 10 am is our outdoor service.  You are welcome to join us or watch our service as streamed on Facebook and YouTube.

Our Sunday Celebration Service is streamed live at 12:30 pm.  The order of the service is attached.

There will be a virtual prayer retreat every Sunday from 7:00-7:15 pm on Facebook.  It is set aside as a time to prayer for the unity of the church as we begin the search for our next pastor.

There will be a new Zoom group in March led by Pr Carl and Barb Peterson on Luther and our Lutheran identity.  A great way to walk through Lent.

There are numerous groupings as well as children and youth activities offered each week online.  Go to www.peaceaz.org to learn more.

Every Wednesday during Lent we will offer a midweek service in the style of Taize at 7:00 pm.  Join us as we celebrate the promise of our baptism.

Thanks again to all for your generosity.  Your gifts make it possible for us to be church even when we cannot gather and engage with one another as we are accustomed.  Your gifts have made it possible for Peace to have an impact upon people all around the globe.  Thank you.

Blessings for the week ahead and stay safe!
