Confirmation for the Curious!

ZOOM Meetings begin in October

Curiosity in the Workplace: How to Develop an Inquisitive Attitude and Become a Better Leader

It is my hope that all are safe and all are well. It has been a very different last 6 months, and it looks like we will continue to share in new adventures over the next 6 months, at least.
As we are beginning to come out from our safe shelters, we can begin to think about what's next. In particular, what is next for CONFIRMATION.

Prior to the pandemic a Service of Confirmation was scheduled for October 25. We will be unable to have a Service of Confirmation this fall. We want to include all the ritual and tradition of Confirmation, and this cannot be done under current restrictions. We are sorry, but we want this to be the special event you had hoped it would be.
We have tentatively scheduled a Service of Confirmation for the Day of Pentecost, May 23, 2021. We are hopeful that by this time we will be able to gather families around those who are confirming their faith and celebrate this important Faith Stepping Stone. (Of course this date will be subject to the actual scientific evidence of the spread of Covid-19 and the access to a vaccine at that time, but it is good to have something to aim for.) We will keep you informed as we go along.

We would like all who were in Confirmation in 2019-20 to continue this year. Due to the pandemic we missed out on teaching moments as well as retreats and camps this past winter/spring. This year we will be hosting Confirmation on ZOOM for 30 minute sessions on Wednesday nights. We will be getting more information out to you in the next week. Just keep in mind that Confirmation Zoom sessions will start at the beginning of OCTOBER.
As for the special events, such as camp and retreats; those are all on hold for right now. We will continue to monitor the science and be cautious so as not to put anyone at risk. Our youth group will, however, be providing several opportunities to get together while maintaining an appropriate social distance (they have an upcoming event at the beginning of October). Watch for information from Michelle.

So, as your families are weighing the options regarding school, know that we are praying for you. We want Confirmation to be something that lifts the spirits of our youth rather than becoming one more online obligation. We want confirmation to be a positive introduction into our youth ministry. We celebrate that our relationship with God always begins through our relationship with God's people. Please remember the whole point of Confirmation is to remind ourselves that God love us and to gather us into a community where we practice our love for one another.
